circled_dayAll consultations are by appointment which can be made in person or by telephone 01892 603131 between 08:00 and 18:30.

GP Appointments can also be booked online.

You can pre book appointments up to three months in advance. Monday appointments are strictly book on the day only. For more urgent same day appointments please phone in at 08:00 on the day you wish to see be seen. When booking an appointment the call handler will ask for some details. You do not have to provide these if you so wish, but it helps us to make an appointment with the most suitable clinician. The doctors will also review these notes during their clinics to make sure more urgent symptoms are left waiting.

Duty Doctor

We have a duty doctor system in place so that if/when all the available appointments for that day have been allocated our receptionists will offer a ring-back from the duty doctor for that day. Some problems can be resolved over the telephone; however the duty doctor will triage the problem and offer an appropriate appointment that day if necessary.

Emergencies will be dealt with as soon as possible at all times.

Please note appointments are normally for 10 minutes. If you feel you need more time please advise the receptionist when making your booking.

Triage Clinic (this was reinstated on the 22nd of October 2018)

The surgery runs a daily triage clinic. This is a nurse-led service run by Alison Cantwell who is an experienced, qualified nurse who has undertaken further training to equip her with specialist knowledge in minor illness. When booking an appointment you will find that the receptionist will enquire whether your illness/condition would be suitable for the triage clinic or if the nurse could offer you advice over the telephone. This is necessary in order to make the most efficient use of the appointments that are available, which will ensure that you are offered the soonest or most appropriate appointment.

In the triage clinic you will be assessed by a nurse, given appropriate advice and if the nurse feels a prescription is required, one will be issued. A doctor is available if the nurse requires a further opinion or advice. We see this service as enhancing our commitment to provide a high level of care and service to our patients.

Telephone Consultations

If you think that you have a problem that needs to be attended to on the day, and that a pre-bookable routine appointment is not an option, please ring the surgery on 01892 603131 and ask our receptionists for a telephone consultation. Our doctors will endeavour to ring you on the day to help you with your problem. Do please bear in mind though that telephone ring-back times are normally outside the surgery times.

Improved Access

We have joined with other local practices to provide clinics from 6:30pm to 8:00pm Monday to Friday and 8:00am to 12:00 noon on Saturdays. We will be rotating clinics therefore please ask at reception or call in if one of these evening appointments suit you. There will be a GP and a Practice nurse offering 15 minute appointments.

Clinics are also available at weekends at the Meads surgery in Uckfield and in Lewes on Sundays.

Extended hours

Much like improved access we work together with other local practices in what is known as a Primary Care Cluster (PCN). For patients registered here there will be early morning appointments with a Practice Nurse at 07:30 and 07:45 Monday to Thursday. There will be 2 telephone consultations with a GP at 6:30pm and 6:45pm in the evenings and these can convert to a face to face consultation if required. Please ask at reception or call in if one of these evening appointments suit you.

If you are unable to attend your appointment for any reason please let us know as soon as possible in order for the slot to be given to someone else.
